Egypt to reopen Rafah crossing for three days

The Egyptian authorities intend to open the Rafah border crossing anew for three days as of Saturday December 16 for the travel of registered passengers and entry of aid.

According to the official TV channel in Egypt the crossing will be open in both directions tomorrow until next Monday in order to allow the travel of people with humanitarian cases students and stranded passengers from and into the Gaza Strip.

Shipments of humanitarian aid for Gaza will also be allowed in the channel noted.

The crossings and border authority in Gaza was informed about the Egyptian decision.

The Rafah crossing was opened for three days at the beginning of the current week during which about 3555 passengers traveled in both directions.

However the Egyptian authorities refused to allow 160 Palestinians to cross into the country at the time without providing explanations for taking such measures against certain passengers.
