The struggle of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip has been continuing for more than 14 months, the most horrific of which is the suffering of those taken prisoners during the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Strip.

Although the number of the detainees taken during the current aggression has not been precisely determined yet, some of the recently released prisoners recounted dreadful, cruel atrocities practiced against them in the Israeli prisons.

The misery of the prisoners starts since the first moments of storming their houses, as they are led away of their towns in overcrowded vehicles, blindfolded, handcuffed, and stripped of their clothes.

One of the ex-prisoners revealed that the Palestinians in the Israeli prisons are severely tortured while being blindfolded for more than a week, while another added that they are banned from going to bathrooms and beaten all over their bodies.

According to Al Jazeera, one of the ex-prisoners recounted that he was stripped of his clothes, handcuffed, banned from eating or drinking, and left in the cold for days.

Another ex-prisoner revealed that the elderly and injured face hard times especially with the systematic medical negligence practiced against the prisoners, adding that sick prisoners cannot get any medicine other than painkillers.

Meanwhile, 18 of the prisoners who were released from Karm Abu Salem camp and transferred to Gaza European Hospital have been calling for rescuing the Palestinian detainees who live harsh circumstances in the Israeli prisons.

For its part, Palestine center for prisoners’ studies said that the Israeli crimes go beyond ethnic cleansing and systematic killing as they also include mass detentions against thousands of Palestinian people in addition to carrying out field executions cold-bloodedly.

Last week, the center said in a press statement that Israel has recently committed field execution against three prisoners, pointing out that the army opened fire at them after delusively releasing them in Al Sudaniyyah area in the northern Gaza Strip.

The center underlined that the occupation released many detainees after they had been held for periods ranging from three months to a year, highlighting that most of them died shortly after their release as a result of difficult interrogation circumstances.

It pointed out that the occupation is still practicing the crime of forced disappearance against Gaza prisoners and bans family visits in order to torture them without any deterrence.

Since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression, 47 Palestinian prisoners have been martyred as they were executed, tortured, or suffered medical negligence.

In the beginning of this December, the Palestinian Prisoners Society and Addameer institution announced the death of the two Palestinian prisoners Mohammed Idris, 35, and Moath Rayyan, 31, from the Gaza Strip.

Prisoner Idris was martyred on the 29th of November in Ofer prison, while prisoner Rayyan was martyred on the 2nd of November with no information about the place of his death.

Family sources underlined that Prisoner Rayyan suffered from palsy before his detention on the 21st of October 2024, while prisoner Idris didn’t suffer from any disease before he went missing (detained) on the 25th of August 2024.

“The death of the two prisoners indicates that they were killed deliberately,” Qaddura Faris, head of the commission of detainees’ affairs said, adding that most of the prisoners died after they were severely beaten.

Fairs underlined that Israel has practiced a systematic policy of torture against Palestinian prisoners, stressing that the prisoners have suffered serious illnesses as they faced starvation and torture for 14 months.

“Most of the prisoners suffer from weight loss and anemia,” Faris said, expressing growing fears that prisoners would die as no one puts pressure on Israel to halt its criminal measures.

According to human rights sources, the number of the Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip has reached 8,000 prisoners since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli genocide against the enclave.
