The Europeans for Al-Quds Association announced that the Israeli occupation army killed two Palestinians, one of whom was a child, injured 10 others, and arrested 169 Jerusalemites during its attacks in Jerusalem throughout October, 2024.

The Association’s monthly report indicated that the occupation forces committed 715 violations distributed across 16 patterns of human rights violations, with the majority being compounded violations. The most prominent of these violations were incursions and raids, accounting for 48.2%, followed by arrests at 22.4%.

The report documented 39 incidents of gunfire and direct assaults by Israeli occupation forces in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem. This resulted in the killing of the 12-year-old child Hatim Ghaith on October 7 during an incursion into Qalandiya refugee camp, and Sami Amoudi on October 27 at the Hizma checkpoint, under the pretext of carrying out a vehicular attack. Additionally, 10 others were injured, including 5 children, and dozens suffered from tear gas inhalation, while at least 23 citizens were subjected to beatings and abuse.

The Europeans for Al-Quds team documented 363 incursions into neighborhoods and towns in Occupied Jerusalem during this month, during which 169 citizens were arrested, 5 others were summoned, and house arrest was imposed on 4 citizens.

The report also documented 15 demolition and destruction operations affecting 12 homes, of which 11 owners were forced to demolish them or parts of them by themselves, resulting in the displacement of 46 citizens. Additionally, 3 facilities were destroyed, along with 24 notifications and demolition orders issued against other homes and structures.

The report noted the seizure of land by settlers, under the protection of occupation forces, in the neighborhood of Jabal Mukaber and a house in the Baydoun area of Silwan.

It also documented the Israeli seizure of land containing the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, and its conversion into a settlement with 1,440 housing units.

According to the report, the occupation authorities issued 5 decisions and measures aimed at consolidating settlement expansion and Judaization in Jerusalem. These included the confiscation of the UNRWA headquarters, the appropriation of 26,499 dunums of land, and the establishment of an occupation police center near Al-Aqsa Mosque.

During this month, 10,149 settlers, along with thousands under the guise of tourists, participated in incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, which took place over 23 days. A total of 5,980 settlers participated in the incursions during the “Feast of Tabernacles,” marking the highest number of incursions in a single month since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023.

The increase in the number of intruders is attributed to settlers celebrating the long season of Jewish holidays that began on October 3, 2024, with Rosh Hashanah, culminating in the “Simchat Torah” celebration on October 24, 2024. Settlers carried out 10 assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque, mostly involving prayers and religious rituals.

The Israeli occupation authorities continued their policy of expulsion from Al-Aqsa Mosque or the city of Jerusalem, issuing 5 expulsion orders against Jerusalemites this month. The report documented 15 assaults by settlers, which included attacks on citizens, their properties, and acts of incitement.

It also pointed to the ongoing tightening of the blockade by occupation forces on Palestinian towns and neighborhoods in Occupied Jerusalem, restricting access for Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, alongside continued attacks on public freedoms and hindering the work of media teams in the occupied city.

The Israeli occupation authorities continued to violate the economic, social, and cultural rights of Jerusalemites, imposing numerous fines and violations on shop owners during this month.

The report highlighted that the occupation forces continue to exploit their war on the Gaza Strip to escalate their violations in Jerusalem, targeting both Jerusalemites and holy sites. They persisted in their attempts at Judaization and imposing new de facto conditions in the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It warned of the dangers of the ongoing violations in Jerusalem and the unchecked actions of extremist settlers against citizens, along with attempts to impose new de facto conditions at Al-Aqsa Mosque, which increased the suffering of Jerusalemites amid the continued policies of Judaization and repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, coupled with attempts to impose spatial and temporal division of the holy Islamic site.
