Hundreds of thousands of people marched in London on Saturday demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian flags and banners reading “Ceasefire Now” and “Stop Killing Innocent Civilians” were carried during the protest. The massive march headed toward Vauxhall Bridge.
Some demonstrators tried to pass through the US Embassy area south of the Thames River while chanting “Free Palestine” and “Ceasefire now.”
Some demonstrators also chanted: Free Palestine from the river to the sea.
The police closed part of Park Lane in the center of the capital but the demonstrators were able to infiltrate the area that leads to the headquarters of the American Embassy in London.
In a touching scene many demonstrators wore poppies (which the British wear on Armistice Day) to honor veterans the day on which World War I ended.
Former opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn and his close ally John McDonnell were at the forefront of the demonstration.
