PJS: Reporters Without Borders’ report is biased towards Israel

In a statement issued on Friday, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) strongly criticized the annual report released by Reporters Without Borders, asserting that “it is complicit with the Israeli occupation and its heinous war crimes committed daily against Palestinian journalists in all Palestinian lands, especially during its ongoing brutal aggression on Gaza.”

The PJS affirmed “the accuracy and credibility of its statistics which are based on professional and legal documentation adhering to the highest standards in documenting crimes against journalists.”

It insisted that journalists who were martyred in home bombings by Israeli relentless raids and airstrikes were intentionally targeted because of their profession as journalists, refuting the report’s claim that these deaths were accidental.

Highlighting that all crimes against journalists are carried out deliberately and with official authorization from the Israeli occupation government, the syndicate argued that Reporters Without Borders’ report aims to whitewash Israel’s image regarding the assassination of Palestinian journalists, shielding it from international accountability.

The syndicate reiterated its call for Reporters Without Borders to cease its bias towards Israel, urging the organization to prioritize professionalism and accuracy in its reports. It accused the organization of compromising its credibility and neutrality by favoring Israel over principles of journalism.

It pledged to “take legal measures guaranteed under international law and national laws to hold accountable those who justify Israeli war crimes against Palestinian journalists.”

With the martyrdom of Aljazeera cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa, the number of journalists who have been killed in the Israeli bloody aggression on the Gaza Strip since last October 7 rises to 90.
