A Hamas delegation arrived in South Africa on Saturday to participate in the Global Anti-Apartheid Conference on Palestine.
The Hamas delegation included Basem Naim, a member of the political bureau in Gaza, and Imad Saber, a member of Hamas’s international relations office.
The three-day conference, which aims to rally support for the international efforts being made to dismantle the Israeli apartheid system in Palestine, started Friday at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg.
The event attracted international speakers including Declan Kearney, the chairperson of Sinn Fein, the Irish republican and democratic socialist political party, Mustafa al-Barghouthi, a noted Palestinian human rights activist and politician, and Ronnie Kasrils, a former South Africa minister of intelligence, among others.
