A Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails went on hunger strike a week ago to protest the Israeli prison service’s refusal to provide him with treatment, sources in his hometown al-Khalil said on Tuesday.
They added that Amjad al-Hamouri, who spent long years in Israeli jails, contracted a skin disease in the Negev prison.
Hamouri, who is a dentist, had opened a clinic in al-Khalil and was adamant on studying MA in business administration, but his repeated arrests ended his dream of completing higher education. His family members have been constantly harassed by Israeli occupation forces ever since his first detention in 2001.
