The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz revealed on Tuesday the martyrdom of two prisoners from the Gaza Strip detained in the Sde Teiman detention camp, as a result of torture by the Israeli occupation soldiers.
The newspaper, in its investigation, said that two residents of Gaza were martyred as a result of the severe beating they were subjected to by the soldiers, and not due to the rough road conditions during their transfer, as claimed by the Israeli forces that arrested them.
The newspaper pointed out that the two martyrs were taken out alive, tied with a belt inside a truck that transported them from Khan Yunis to a detention center near Beersheba, and they were found dead at the end of the journey.
It indicated that the evidence collected contradicts the soldiers’ claims about the damages sustained on the road, and there were signs of beatings in several parts of their bodies, and according to the evidence, one of them was hit on the head.
It confirmed that the bodies of 35 other martyrs are being examined regarding the circumstances of their martyrdom inside the secret prison, which many reports have revealed that Palestinians inside it are subjected to brutal treatment and severe torture.
The newspaper said that investigations are underway into the martyrdom of other Palestinians, as a result of neglect or lack of medical care, and death due to diseases and infections that developed inside the detention camp.
The Sde Teiman camp is a military base that has been converted into a prison, housing most of the detainees in the Gaza Strip, until a decision is made regarding the continuation of the procedures against them and their transfer to the prison service.
The newspaper said that around 2,000 Palestinians have been transferred to other prisons, and they are being held under detention orders.
