The Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs said that sick prisoners in Israeli jails are being systematically subjected to a medical crime aimed at killing them slowly, citing the case of the sick prisoner Mutasem Raddad, who suffers from a deteriorating health condition.

The Commission said in a statement on Tuesday that the detainee Mutasim Raddad, 42, from the city of Tulkarem suffers from a serious health condition that is considered one of the most difficult medical cases in the Israeli occupation prisons.

The statement explained that Raddad suffers from serious intestinal infections and bleeding that led to dropped hemoglobin levels causing him to faint repetitively, in addition to high blood pressure, shortness of breath, and irregular heartbeat, in addition to severe back and joint pain.

The Commission noted that Raddad could not meet his lawyer at Ramla prison clinic because of his illness and inability to move.

It elaborated that he receives a monthly injection which requires his continuous transfer from Ofer prison to Ramla clinic, but lately he has been thinking of stopping treatment because of his deteriorated health condition which does not allow him to endure pain he usually experiences during his transfer to the hospital and the very bad treatment he is usually subjected to by the repressive forces of the Israeli occupation police.

The Commission said that Raddad’s health seriously deteriorated after he had been transferred from Ramla clinic to Ofer prison, following the Israeli aggression on Gaza, where he was held in a cell lacking the minimum necessities of life. He was prevented from getting his regular medications and was served poor food and insufficient clothes and blankets, the statement added, noting that the Ofer prison administration refused to return him directly to the Ramla clinic, amid a state of medical negligence.

The prisoner Mutasim Raddad has been detained since 2006 and is serving a 20 years sentence. During his arrest, he was injured by Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire and his condition worsened in prison to the extent that he spent most of his detention period in the Ramla prison clinic.
