In a powerful display of solidarity, millions of Yemenis took to the streets across various provinces on Friday to support the Palestinian people and condemn the ongoing Israeli massacres in Gaza.
Under the banner “With Gaza and Al-Aqsa… Jihad and Steadfastness Until Victory,” massive marches filled Sabeen Square in Sana’a, as well as over 200 other locations across Yemen’s provinces. These demonstrations were held to express unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and to back the Yemeni Armed Forces’ actions in solidarity with Gaza.
Morning protests were particularly widespread in provinces such as Saada, Raymah, and Marib, as well as several districts in Taiz, Amran, and Ibb. The demonstrators reaffirmed their commitment to Gaza’s resistance, emphasizing their support through “military operations, official and popular activities, and economic boycotts against the enemies.”
A statement from the Yemeni protesters urged the “Axis of Jerusalem, Jihad, and Resistance” to deliver a crushing blow to the enemies of humanity, calling for a response that would “bring relief to the hearts of the faithful.” The statement also reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering commitment to supporting the oppressed Palestinian people, pledging continued weekly demonstrations until victory is achieved.
Addressing the Palestinian people, the statement expressed pride in their extraordinary resilience, which has defied expectations and thwarted the hopes of their enemies. “We stand with you until the near victory, God willing,” it declared.
The message also challenged the broader Arab and Islamic nations, urging them to recognize Gaza as a test of their faith and humanity. “Your silence is failure, and your hesitation is betrayal,” the statement warned, quoting the Quran to emphasize the moral and spiritual duty to support Gaza.
Morocco’s ongoing support for Gaza.
Meanwhile, in Morocco, thousands of people participated in solidarity rallies on Friday to support Gaza, which has been under relentless Israeli attack since October 7th. The participants demanded protection for Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, support for Palestinian resilience, and an immediate end to the Israeli war on Gaza. These protests mark the 46th consecutive week of demonstrations held under the slogan “Friday of Loyalty to Gaza and Al-Aqsa.”
Organized after Friday prayers, the rallies took place in various cities across Morocco, including Oujda, Zaio, and Jerada in the east, Casablanca in the west, Inezgane in the south, and Tangier and Tetouan in the north. The Moroccan Commission in Support of the Nation’s Causes, a non-governmental organization, spearheaded the mobilization.
Protesters chanted slogans in support of Palestinian resistance and the people of Jerusalem, while voicing strong opposition to normalization with Israel. Participants waved Palestinian flags and held images of Jerusalem and Ismail Haneyya, the former political leader of Hamas, who was assassinated in Tehran over three weeks ago.
Slogans such as “The people want the liberation of Palestine,” “From Morocco to Palestine, one people, not two,” and “The people want an end to normalization” echoed through the streets.
In cities like Rabat, the Moroccan capital, continuous demonstrations have become a common sight. Participants have called for an end to Western support for Israel, a halt to the war on Gaza, and the lifting of the blockade to allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need.
Since October 7th, Israel, with U.S. backing, has conducted a devastating war resulting in over 133,000 Palestinian casualties, including many women and children, with more than 10,000 missing amidst widespread destruction and famine. This conflict has been described as one of the most severe humanitarian disasters in modern history.
Despite international outcry, Tel Aviv continues its military campaign, ignoring the UN Security Council’s calls for an immediate ceasefire and the International Court of Justice’s orders to prevent genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
