The decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to cancel the agreement regulating the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied territories is an Israeli disregard for the international community and a contempt for the United Nations system, the Hamas Movement said in a statement issued on Monday.
The Movement said that the decision confirms that Israel is “a rogue entity that defies international legitimacy and humanitarian values.”
“The Israeli decision, which violates the United Nations Charter and international law, is an Israeli attempt to obliterate the international and UN witness to the Palestinian refugees cause, aimed at eliminating their cause and right to return to their homes from which the Israeli forces displaced them over seven decades ago.”
The Movement called on the international community, the United Nations, and all relevant parties “to stand firmly against this Israeli decision that defies international legitimacy, and to strengthen the role of UNRWA and protect it in light of the genocide and crimes committed by the brutal occupation against our people in the Gaza Strip, and the urgent need for the relief and humanitarian services provided by UNRWA.”
