Hamas Movement stressed that the resolutions of the final statement of the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit held in Riyadh require efforts to stop the Israeli aggression, lift the siege, and provide relief to the Palestinian people.

Hamas called on the contact group emanating from the summit to assume its responsibilities in finding quick and effective ways and procedures to break the stifling siege being imposed on the Palestinian people.

During the summit on Monday, Arab leaders and officials demanded putting an end to the Israeli genocide committed against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as well as halting its aggression against Lebanon.

The Summit’s final statement condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army in the Gaza Strip, considering them as part of the genocide as they include crimes of mass killing, mass graves, torture, field executions, enforced disappearance, looting, and ethnic cleansing, especially in the northern Gaza Strip over the past weeks.

The final statement also called on the UN Security Council to form an independent and credible international investigation committee to investigate these crimes, and to take serious steps to prevent the concealment of evidence that would hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure that they do not escape punishment.

The summit’s statement reiterated the adherence to full sovereignty of the State of Palestine over occupied “East Jerusalem”, the eternal capital of Palestine, rejecting any Israeli decisions or measures aimed at Judaizing the city and consolidating the Israeli colonial occupation of it.

The final statement reiterated its absolute support for the Lebanese Republic and its security, stability, sovereignty, and citizens’ safety.

It also called on the Security Council to oblige Israel to stop its aggressive policies against Gaza and Lebanon, to ban arms exports to it, and to freeze its participation in the UN due to its horrific violations of the international law.

The statement emphasized its support for the national rights of the Palestinians, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Riyadh Summit is “an extension of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023,” according to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
