The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has accused the Israeli prison service (IPS) of escalating the use of its medical neglect policy against the Palestinian prisoners in its jails.
In a statement on Monday, the Commission said that its lawyer visited some Palestinian prisoners recently and affirmed that they suffer from extremely worrying health conditions and are deliberately deprived of their rights, including their right to medical care.
The Commission explained that prisoner Hamza Safran suffer from worsening sinus and eyesight problems as a result of his exposure to medical neglect in the jail.
Safran is administratively detained with no indictment, and he is supposed to be released on April 15, 2025.
Another prisoner called Mohamed Ahmed suffer from bladder and pancreatic cancer and his health condition has deteriorated during his detention as Israeli jailers refuse to provide him with medical care.
Prisoner Ahmed used to receive intensive medical treatment before his detention.
