The Hamas Movement welcomed the UN General Assembly’s resolution that demands an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, immediate access to basic necessities and humanitarian aid, rejection of any endeavor to starve the Palestinians, calling on the international community to oblige the Israeli occupation government to abide by the UN resolution.
In a statement on Thursday, Hamas called on the international community, including the Arab and Islamic countries, to compel Israel to abide by the UN resolution, which reflects the global conscience that demands an end to the ongoing brutal genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The Movement also called for pursuing steps that would bring Israeli war criminals to the International Criminal Court (ICC), to implement the arrest ruling issued against them and to hold them accountable for crimes against humanity.
On Wednesday evening, the UN General Assembly adopted, with an overwhelming majority, a decision calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The decision calls for an unconditional cessation of fire in the Gaza Strip by all parties and affirms the UN support of UNRWA’s operations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The resolution was approved by a majority of 158 votes in the UN General Assembly of 193 members.
