The Jenin Battalion of the Saraya Al-Quds, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that it has agreed on a reconciliation initiative with the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) security forces.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Battalion said, “We have agreed on a reconciliation initiative that maintain our legitimate right to resist the criminal Israeli occupation forces which have been desecrating our sanctities, seizing our lands and abusing our people.”
The initiative had been earlier proposed by the Reform Committees in Jenin, which affirmed that “the PA’s security forces have agreed on the initiative as well.”
Since last month, the PA’s security forces have been launching a military operation against resistance fighters in the Jenin camp.
Clashes between PA’s forces and resistance fighters resulted in the killing of six security forces and 8 citizens, including one of the Jenin Battalion’s leaders.
According to local sources, the PA security forces instructed fuel stations in Jenin not to provide Jenin camp with any amount of fuel.
Since the start of the PA security campaign, the Jenin camp has been left with no electricity, water and internet services. Schooling has also been disrupted in both the UNRWA schools and government schools located in the camp’s vicinity, amid a prevailing state of popular discontent.
