The deteriorating health condition of the released Palestinian prisoners in the exchange deal that took place on Saturday afternoon, as part of the fifth batch, as well as in previous ones, reveals once again the tragic situation of Palestinian detainees in the Israeli prisons, Hamas Movement said in a statement.

Hamas added, “The world today witnesses the significant contrast between the resistance’s humane and ethical treatment of Israeli captives compared to the Israeli repressive and brutal treatment of our detainees.”

It pointed out that the immediate transfer of seven prisoners to hospitals upon their release, including the released prisoner and Hamas leader Sheikh Jamal Al-Tawil, demonstrates the systematic approach of the Israeli prison administration in its assaults and mistreatment of our detainees, without regard for age or the difficult health conditions many prisoners suffer from. “This aligns with the extremist policies of the occupation government, which practices slow killing against prisoners inside jails.”

Hamas warned of the ongoing torture, repression, mistreatment, and medical neglect practiced against the Palestinian detainees and renewed its commitment to spare no effort until they achieve their freedom.

The Movement called upon the Palestinian people, the factions, and human rights and humanitarian institutions to take responsibility and work to support the prisoners in all possible ways.

The Israeli occupation authorities on Saturday released the fifth batch of detainees as part of the ceasefire agreement. According to the Prisoners’ Media Office, the fifth batch includes 183 prisoners, among them 18 serving life sentences, 54 with high sentences, and 111 from Gaza detained after October 7, 2023.
