The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed a pregnant Palestinian woman and critically wounded her husband in Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem on Sunday.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, Sundus Shalabi, an eight-month pregnant 23-year-old Palestinian woman, was shot and killed and her husband was severely injured by IOF gunfire while trying to leave Nur Shams camp in the West Bank.

The incident took place as the IOF announced its troops started to operate in Nur Shams camp near Tulkarem overnight as part of its expanding military operation in the northern West Bank.

The IOF started its aggression and siege in Tulkarem City and Tulkarem refugee camp about 14 days ago, widely destroying public and private property, assaulting and kidnaping local residents, and forcing families to leave their homes.

Local sources reported that the IOF dispatched at dawn Sunday massive military forces, including armored vehicles and heavy bulldozers, to Nur Shams camp, adding that they heard sounds of gunfire and explosions during the raid.

Since the early morning hours, Israeli forces have been embarking on raiding homes, opening fire, kidnaping citizens, and flying drones over the camp, according to the sources.

The IOF has also laid tight siege to the camp, seized residential buildings in different areas, including in the suburbs of Dhanabah and Iktaba and as-Salam neighborhood, and forced families to leave those areas on foot after confiscating their cars.

Other families were forced at gunpoint by Israeli soldiers to leave the neighborhoods of Jabel an-Nasser and Jabel as-Salihin and walk to Kafr al-Labad town.

After displacing the residents from their neighborhoods, the IOF turned those areas and buildings into military posts and sniper sites.

Meanwhile, Israeli bulldozers embarked on destroying Nablus street near the camp and different roads and infrastructure in the area.

The Red Crescent in Tulkarem said that the IOF prevented its ambulance crews from entering Nur Shams camp after receiving information about Palestinian casualties.

Israeli forces also raided dozens of homes in the camp and kidnaped a number of citizens.

In Tulkarem camp, Israeli troops continued to break into and ransack homes, whose residents were already expelled from them.

The IOF also continued to turn more tall buildings into watchtowers and open fire randomly at empty homes in the camp.

In Tulkarem City, a large number of IOF troops reportedly stormed and rampaged through dozens of homes in different neighborhoods and confiscated security camera recordings.
