The Lebanese News Agency reported on Saturday morning that Israeli airstrikes targeted the towns of Aita al-Shaab and Yarine in southern Lebanon, in new violations of the ceasefire agreement.

An Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in Wadi Khalil, near the Abu al-Aswad area, on the road to the town of Zararia in the district of Tyre, southern Lebanon, the agency added.

According to reports, the strike took place in an area about 35 kilometers from the southern border, north of the Litani River. This targeting comes in the context of the Israeli ongoing violation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

An Israeli security source told Israeli army radio that the target was a field commander in Hezbollah. So far, no official Lebanese sources have released information about the extent of the damage or whether there were any casualties, or if so, how many and who they are.

An Israeli drone carried out a two-wave strike targeting Hangara in the Mafraq neighborhood of the town of Aita al-Shaab, in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon, which was previously targeted in a similar strike. No casualties were reported, according to the Lebanese news agency.

The news agency reported that “the Israeli enemy also targeted a ‘ready-made room’ and a concrete block factory in the border town of Yarine at dawn today.”

On October 8, 2023, Israel launched an aggression against Lebanon that turned into a full-scale war on September 23, 2024, resulting in more than 4,000 martyrs and nearly 17,000 wounded, in addition to the displacement of about 1.4 million people.

Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on November 27, Israel has committed at least 2,780 violations, leaving at least 200 martyrs and 491 wounded, according to official figures.

While the Lebanese army continues its deployment in the south in implementation of the agreement, Israel has reneged on its commitment to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by February 18.

The Israeli occupation army carried out a partial withdrawal from Lebanon, and its forces continue to occupy five major Lebanese hills within the areas it occupied in the recent war.
