Head of Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions Sami al-Amasi has condemned the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) for opening ducts in dams in the eastern Gaza borders.
“The IOA flooded 300 dunums of Palestinian farmlands after opening the floodgates of water dams on Saturday east of Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah cities” al-Amasi said in a press statement on Monday.
Al-Amasi stressed that flooding Palestinian lands constitutes a crime against humanity as it results in vandalizing the Palestinian farmers’ property and crops.
“While the IOA has been retaining water in dams it opens their floodgates to get rid of excess water especially in the winter season” he underlined.
He pointed out that the average annual loss for Palestinian farmers is one and a half million USD calling on donors to provide compensation to farmers whose lands and homes have been inflicted with destruction and became uninhabitable.
