Violent clashes broke out on Thursday between Palestinian youths and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in al-Khalil and Bethlehem amid a general strike that was staged in mourning for martyr Uday at-Tamimi.
The strike which was called for by national figures was observed by businesses schools universities and different facilities in al-Khalil and Bethlehem.
According to local sources clashes took place at the northern entrance of Bethlehem City during which the IOF intensively fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades at young protesters. No one was reportedly hurt during the events.
In al-Khalil a number of young men suffered from their exposure to tear gas during confrontations with the IOF in Bab az-Zawiya area in the central district of al-Khalil City and Dura town.
Meanwhile dozens of Palestinian citizens participated today in a march staged in Tarqumiyah town west of al-Khalil in solidarity with Nablus City which has been under tight siege for 10 days.
Last night angry young men clashed with the IOF in different areas of al-Khalil following the martyrdom of Uday at-Tamimi who was shot dead on Wednesday evening after he exchanged fire with Israeli security guards at the entrance of the illegal settlement of Ma’ale Adumim.
