Detainees in Israeli Hawara Etzion lock-ups launch cry for help

Monday 19-December-2016

A rights group on Monday sounded alarm bells over the dire conditions endured by Palestinian detainees in the Israeli Etzion and Hawara detention centers.

Lawyers from the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said following a visit paid to the detainees in Etzion and Hawara locks ups that they kept record of an acute dearth in winter clothes and blankets.

Speaking with PPS lawyers the detainees launched cries for help over the poor-quality food handed to the prisoners in the abovementioned penitentiaries along with the shortage in clothes and garments.

Prisoners in Etzion jail said their belongings and beds have been covered with water after rain downpours flooded their prison cells.

The detainees appealed for heating equipment so as to be able to survive the freezing temperatures rocking the metal barracks where they had been incarcerated.

Detainees in Etzion and Hawara among other Israeli lock ups are regularly left only with prison uniforms after confiscating their clothes by the Israeli prison administrations.
