Scores of Palestinian citizens were reportedly kidnaped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) mostly during large-scale campaigns last night and at dawn Tuesday in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
According to local sources the IOF kidnaped five citizens from their homes in Qalqilya City and five others from different towns in Jenin.
One of the Jenin detainees identified as Fuaad al-Ashqar from Silat al-Harithiya town was kidnaped by the IOF upon his return from Jordan at the Allenby (Karama) border crossing.
Meanwhile the IOF intensified its presence in different areas in the south and west of Jenin and set up makeshift checkpoints on roads leading to some towns.
Two young men were also kidnaped by the IOF from their homes in al-Fari’ah refugee camp in southern Tubas where clashes broke out with local youths.
In Bethlehem the IOF stormed Aida refugee camp and kidnaped senior Islamic Jihad official Bassam Abu Aker and another citizen identified as Mustafa Quneis.
The IOF also kidnaped a citizen from his home in al-Deheisha refugee camp in Bethlehem.
In al-Khalil the IOF kidnaped a citizen from Halhul City and clashed with young men in al-Arroub refugee camp.
Local sources said the IOF fired live ammunition and tear gas and stun grenades during violent clashes with local youths in Arroub camp without providing further details.
The IOF also kidnaped a high school student at the Container checkpoint in the southeast of Jerusalem. He was identified as 17-year-old Fuaad as-Salibi from Beit Ummar town in northern al-Khalil.
In Nablus a Palestinian young man was injured by IOF gunfire near the Huwara checkpoint. The IOF claimed he attempted to stab soldiers in the area.
In east Jerusalem Israeli police forces kidnaped at least 50 Palestinian citizens mainly after raiding a mourning service held in Beit Hanina following the funeral of martyr Walid ash-Sharif.
According to local sources most of those detainees in Occupied Jerusalem participated in the funeral of martyr ash-Sharif who died of a serious bullet injury in his head he sustained during a violent police raid on the Aqsa Mosque last April.
Earlier in the day the Israeli police violently attacked mourners during their participation in the funeral procession of martyr ash-Sharif in the Old City of Jerusalem injuring dozens of them.
Police officers also kidnaped Omar Abu Khudeir from Shuafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem. He is the young man who appeared in video footage while bravely protecting the coffin of slain Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh during her funeral procession in the holy city last Friday despite the brutal baton charge he and other mourners were exposed to.
