Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Monday held Israel responsible for the death of the Palestinian injured detainee Raed al-Salhi.
Hamas’s spokesman Hazem Kasem said in a statement that the death of Salhi was caused by a “compound crime” that counts as yet more evidence of Israel’s violation of all human norms.
Kasem added that such crimes will not break the will of Palestinian prisoners affirming that the prisoners’ issue will remain at the top of Hamas’s priorities until they obtain freedom.
Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission said that the injured detainee Raed al-Salhi 21 who died on Sunday was critically injured when Israeli soldiers tried to arrest him during a raid at his house in August.
About 1200 Palestinian prisoners out of 7000 in Israeli jails suffer from serious health conditions due to medical negligence. Nearly 21 of the prisoners have been diagnosed with different kinds of cancer while 17 of them have heart-related problems.
Lawyers from Prisoners Affairs Commission on Monday afternoon filed a preliminary appeal to the Israeli prosecution demanding the immediate handover of Salhi’s body which is being held by the Israeli occupation authorities.
