GAZA (PIC)– The two largest Palestinian factions in the Palestinian arena Hamas and Fatah have reached Monday a ceasefire deal in an overnight meeting between leaders of the two factions under Egyptian sponsorship.
The deal calls on all warring parties to end all military demonstrations in the streets of Gaza Strip to stop instigation campaigns through media to release elements seized by both parties and to handover those involved in murder crimes to the PA prosecution to prosecute them.
The deal was read by PA foreign affairs minister Mahmoud Al-Zahhar in the presence of PA premier Ismael Haneyya and Fatah political leader and envoy of PA chief Rouhi Fattoh among other officials.
The truce went into effect at 3 o’clock Tuesday dawn stipulating that the PA interior ministry is only party authorized to maintain peace and order in the Palestinian arena.
The two parties agreed further to spare the West Bank the internal turmoil and to order the joint operation room of the PA security apparatuses to implement and monitor the agreement on the ground.
Haneyya and PA chief Mahmoud Abbas asked both factions to abide by the agreement and to immediately resume talks on national unity government and other crucial issues on the Palestinian arena.
Around 33 Palestinians mostly fighters from Qassam and the executive force of the PA interior ministry were killed at the hands of hooligans from the mutiny trend in Fatah faction.
Hamas steadily asserted that it will never allow any party to drag it into the marsh of civil war at all costs.
In the past and despite its military might the IOF troops failed in defeating Qassam fighters in a number of military encounters in Gaza Strip.
Yet; in spite of the agreement PIC correspondent in the area affirmed that elements of the mutiny trend and other PA security apparatuses were still maintaining their positions and installing roadblocks on main streets in Gaza city in clear indication that that they weren’t abiding by the deal.
