The Hamas Movement has urged the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah to lift its sanctions on the Gaza Strip to enhance its ability to contain any potential outbreak of the coronavirus.
In a press release on Monday Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem called for necessarily pooling the Palestinian efforts to confront the pandemic.
“The Palestinian Authority leadership and the prime minister in Ramallah Mohamed Shtayyeh are both required to immediately lift the punitive measures against the population of the Gaza Strip to enhance their ability to face this growing challenge” the spokesman said.
“The Palestinian Authority must end the punishment policy against the Strip especially in such times when our people are in need to strengthen their internal front” he added.
