The Hamas Movement has called for escalating the popular resistance against the Israeli occupation in the West Bank to confront and curb its settlement expansion projects.
“The occupation government’s approval of a settlement plan consisting of 31 settler projects in the West Bank asserts the Naftali government’s extremism and its persistence in the policy of enlarging settlements stealing more territory and uprooting the native residents” Hamas spokesman Abdul-Latif al-Qanu said in Twitter remarks.
The spokesman called for escalating the popular intifada (uprising) and resistance against the occupation across the West Bank to stand in the face of its settlement expansion activity.
The Israeli occupation army’s civil administration on Wednesday approved for deposit 31 construction projects including commercial housing and religious buildings in different illegal settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The new settlements projects are part of Israel’s Judaization plan dubbed “E1” that aims to expand different illegal settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank and isolate the holy city from the rest of the West Bank.
The vast majority of the international community considers Israel’s settlement construction and expansion a violation of international law.
