The Hamas Movement has paid tribute to the six Palestinian prisoners who escaped from the high-security jail of Gilboa describing them as “brave prisoners” and “heroes of the Freedom Tunnel Battle.”
In press remarks Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum also described the Israeli detention of those prisoners or some of them as “only one round of the open and long struggle against the Israeli occupation.”
“This will only constitute a driving force for our people especially our people in the occupied West Bank to continue their resistance and massive uprising in the face of the occupation and to show their support for the prisoners defend their rights and protect their land and holy sites” spokesman Barhoum said.
He also said that the Gilboa jailbreak operation revitalized the spirit of hope in the hearts of the Palestinian people and made them more confident that “it is only a matter of time before the West Bank explodes in the face of the Israeli occupation.”
The spokesman stressed the need to expand the arena of engagement with the Israeli occupation and to intensify acts of resistance and struggle against the occupation across the West Bank.
