Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has called on the head of Sudanese Sovereignty Council Abdulfattah al-Burhan and Sudanese Prime Minster Abdalla Hamdok to protect the assets of Palestinians living in their country.
Hamas in a press statement on Saturday denied having any investments in the Sudan and refuted the presence of any link between the Movement and the ownership of the recently confiscated assets in that country.
“The assets mentioned in the media reports are owned by Palestinian businessmen and investors who have no organizational connection with the Movement” Hamas said.
Hamas recalled the historical relationship between the Sudanese people and the Palestinians and the support of the Sudanese governments to the Palestinian cause.
Reuters claimed in a report on Thursday that Sudan had confiscated Hamas assets in the country. There was no immediate comment from Khartoum on the report yet.
