BEIRUT (PIC)– The Lebanese Hizbullah party accused on Wednesday Israel of assassinating Emad Mogniyah its prominent military commander at a late hour Tuesday in an explosion that destroyed his car in the Syrian capital Damascus.
Hizbullah charged that Mossad agents booby-trapped Mogniyah’s car which exploded in the Kafr Sousse district in Damascus and led to the injury of two others.
Moghniyah is considered the architect of Hizbullahs’ defensive war against the Israeli invading forces in which Hezbollah achieved a notable victory.
In a statement Hizbullah mourned the death of Mogniyah saying: “With pride and honor we announce the martyrdom of a great resistance leader who joined the procession of Islamic resistance martyrs. After a life full of Jihad sacrifices and accomplishments lived with a longing to martyrdom Islamic resistance leader Hajj Emad Moghniyeh was assassinated by Israeli criminal hands.”
However Israel officially refused to take responsibility for the assassination but the Hebrew press welcomed the assasination with one daily saying that the “account is now settled”.
