Israel allows transfer of limited quantity of corona vaccine to Gaza

Wednesday 17-February-2021

Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) allowed on Wednesday the Palestinian Authority (PA) to transfer a small amount of the coronavirus vaccine to the Gaza Strip.

The Seventh Hebrew Channel reported that the PA requested the transfer of two thousand vaccine doses to Gaza from the Russian Sputnik V vaccine but the Israeli government agreed to provide only a thousand.

It added that the vaccines were delivered at the Beitunia crossing and transferred to Gaza through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.

Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health accused the IOA of preventing the transfer of the vaccine to the Gaza Strip which is intended for medical teams that are treating corona patients.

The IOA is trying to use the vaccination issue to put pressure on Hamas Movement to release captured Israeli soldiers in Gaza.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that 153 new cases of the coronavirus were recorded during the last 24 hours while no deaths were reported.
