NAZARETH (PIC)– A senior security official in the Hebrew state was quoted as saying that the prisoners’ swap deal with the Palestinian resistance over the release of captured IOF soldier Gilad Shalit was nearing its finale.
The source who is close to the negotiating team on Shalit said that Israeli premier Ehud Olmert was hopeful that the matter would be concluded within the few coming weeks that is before mid January 2008.
The website of Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth on Wednesday quoted political sources close to Olmert as saying that efforts were made to expedite the Shalit deal.
The Israeli TV 10 channel quoted sources close to Israeli war minister Ehud Barak who visited Egypt on Wednesday as saying that the minister was optimistic that the deal would be soon reached with the Palestinians.
