The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) on Monday sentenced a number of Palestinians including an MP to administrative incarceration with neither charge nor trial.
Lawyer Ashraf Abu Sneineh said he received a number of administrative sentences slapped by the IOA on a number of Palestinian detainees including the Hamas representative at the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Ahmad Mubarak.
MP Mubarak was sentenced to a six-month administrative prison-term.
Prominent Palestinian writer Waleed al-Houdli was meanwhile sentenced to four months in administrative detention.
Author al-Houdli had spent a total of 15 years in Israeli jails in several former arrests.
The verdicts also targeted newly-arrested ex-prisoners from Ramallah and Bethlehem provinces.
Ex-prisoners Falah Nada Shuja’ Darweesh and Salem Jahaleen received a six-month term without trial while three other detainees—Mohamed Dahla Mohamed Karaan and Mohamed al-Baden—were subjected to similar four-month sentences without charges.
The lawyer added that the sentences were issued after the Israeli prosecution failed to prove alleged charges against the detainees.
He said a hearing is expected to be held by the Ofer military court in the next few days to confirm the administrative prison-terms.
