GAZA (PIC)– A Palestinian child died of cancer on Wednesday in the Gaza Strip after the IOF troops blocked his travel abroad for treatment while no proper medication was available in the Strip for his case.
Medical sources identified the child as Yousef Abu Mariam and noted that his death brought to 51 the number of Palestinian patients dying in the Strip due to the siege and IOF closure of all crossings almost seven months ago.
The popular committee against the siege warned that Gaza should be declared a disaster area as the siege had paralyzed all life sectors with the exception of simple trade in agriculture produce.
The committee in a statement underlined that the rate of deaths was increasing in the Strip heralding a real health disaster.
Meanwhile the international friends of humanity organization based in Vienna appealed to the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak to open the Rafah crossing with Gaza in order to end the tragedy.
It also said in a message to the Egyptian authorities that the 23 Palestinians being detained at the Arish airport should be released immediately especially when they were living in harsh conditions since last June.
The organization asked the Egyptian presidency and government to solve their case and that of the Palestinians stranded at the Egyptian side of the borders.
