A Palestinian prisoner on Wednesday evening stabbed an Israeli prison officer in the Negev jail in response to Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinian detainees.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) a Palestinian detainee stabbed an Israeli jailer in the second such attack carried out on the same day.
PPS said the stabbing came after an Israeli special unit stormed Section 16 in the Negev lock-up and aggressively attacked the Palestinian detainees using teargas.
Tension has been running high in Israeli jails after the Israeli occupation authorities and forces stepped up crackdowns and torture tactics against Palestinian detainees mostly Nafha inmates.
