NABLUS (PIC)– Family of Palestinian prisoner Shaher Barakat Asheh has affirmed that their son went on a hunger-strike two weeks ago protesting IOA inhuman practices against him and placing him in solitary confinement for three years.
Mother of Asheh confirmed that her son languishes in harsh solitary confinement conditions and that he suffers of a number of complicated illnesses in the abdomen and the eye.
After visiting her son in the Kfar Yona jail mother of Asheh quoted her son as saying that he will never break the hunger-strike unless his demands are answered including placing him in ordinary jails.
Asheh was arrested in the year 2001 and sentenced to harsh jail term of 18 years. His wife Iman was also sentenced to a 13-year-imprisonemnt term and two of his brothers were also detained in Israeli jails.
Fearing for her son’s safety mother of Asheh appealed to international and local human rights and legal institutions to immediately intervene to pressure the IOA to stop maltreatment of her son and to carry out the court’s ruling of jailing him in ordinary jails.
