Palestinian prisoner suffers heart attack

A Palestinian prisoner was transferred from Israel’s Nafha prison to a hospital on Friday after he was diagnosed with a heart attack.

“The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) transferred the Palestinian prisoner Yusuf Miqdad to Soroka hospital after he suffered a heart attack” the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said in a press statement on Friday adding that his health condition is dangerous.

For its part the Palestinian Prisoners Society held the IPS accountable for the deteriorating health condition of prisoner Miqdad noting that he suffers from hypertension and was transferred to Nafha prison clinic two weeks ago following a health complication.

61-year-old Yusuf Miqdad who is from Gaza City and who has been detained for more than 21 years is a father of five. He was arrested on the 14th of November 2002 and interrogated under horrific circumstances.

Around 190 of the Palestinian prisoners held in the Israeli jails are from the Gaza Strip the oldest of whom is prisoner Diaa al-Agha who has been detained for thirty years.

Palestinian prisoner suffers heart attack

RAMALLAH (PIC)– Palestinian prisoner Hussein Sawada was transferred by copter from Negev jail to Soroka hospital after he suffered a heart attack.

Issa Qaraqea the head of the PA authority for prisoners and ex-prisoners said that Sawada who is in his sixties is serving a 14-year sentence that is supposed to end in two years.

He said that Sawada was complaining of pains all over his body but the prison administration did not extend proper medical care to him until he suffered the heart attack describing his condition as “serious”.

He held the Israeli prison service responsible for the life of Sawada noting that an Israeli court refused an appeal by his lawyer to release him due to his old age and health condition in addition to the fact that he served 12 years of his 14-year sentence.

In another incident the Israeli occupation authorities on Friday night ordered the administrative detention without trial or charge for six months of Hamas leaders Hussein Abu Kuweik and Fayez Abu Warde who were arrested two days ago.

Families of the leaders told the PIC reporter that both men aged 58 were subjected to 21 hours of interrogation by the Israeli intelligence.

Abu Kuweik who was released from Israeli jails less than three months ago suffers from hypertension while Abu Warde is suffering from heart ailment and had undergone three catheterization procedures.

Palestinian prisoner suffers heart attack

JENIN (PIC)– Emad Asfour 45 has suffered a heart attack in an Israeli jail three days ago and his condition is still unstable his family said.

Ali Asfour the prisoner’s brother said that Emad who hails from Yabad village to the south of Jenin was in danger in light of the Israeli medical neglect of his condition.

He said in an appeal on Saturday that he was informed by the Israeli prison administration that his brother had suffered an acute heart attack and that he was still in a difficult health condition.

Ali said that his brother suffers from diabetes and hypertension and other disease.

He said that all family members were concerned that Emad’s life was in danger adding that he had two and a half years left of his 15-year sentence.

Ali appealed to all medical institutions to intervene and extend necessary treatment for his brother adding that Emad was married and had two children.

Ali asked human rights groups to investigate the spread of heart diseases among Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Palestinian prisoner suffers heart attack

BETHLEHEM (PIC)– Palestinian prisoner Raed Da’amsa suffered a severe heart attack in the Israeli Nafha prison his relatives told the PIC on Saturday.

They said that the heart attack left Da’amsa’s left hand and left foot paralyzed.

Da’amsa who is serving a seven and a half years sentence was transferred to hospital the relatives said adding that no other information was given to the family.

They appealed to the human rights groups and the Red Cross to inquire about his health condition and expose the Israeli practices against him.

Israeli occupation forces arrested Da’amsa on 21/5/2007 they said adding that he was subjected to cruel interrogation rounds for six months and was deprived of sleep for long periods of time. They noted that Da’amsa was told he would only get out of prison paralyzed if he did not confess.

Da’amsa is married and has five children four daughters and a son who he did not see because he was born few months after his detention.
