Palestinian prisoner Mohamed Ardah has been suffering from medical neglect in Israeli jails since 2011 when he started to have a medical condition in his nose.
Prisoner Ardah complained in a letter he wrote recently that the Israeli prison service had ignored for long years his need for surgery in his nose.
About 10 days ago he was taken by Israeli jailers to a hospital to see a doctor who examined him and told him that an operation for him would have been easy if it had been conducted at the beginning of his suffering from his nose problem but now he might have a nose deformity if he wanted to undergo the surgery in order to breathe normally according to his letter.
Prisoner Ardah from Arraba town in Jenin had been arrested on May 16 2002. He has been serving since then three life sentences and an additional 20 years on a charge of his affiliation with the Islamic Jihad Movement.
In September 2021 he and five other prisoners managed to escape from Gilboa jail through a tunnel but a few days later they were found and sent back to jail. Since their recapture they have been placed under harsh solitary confinement in different prisons.
