Resheq urges internal Palestinian understandings to achieve reconciliation

Saturday 17-July-2010

DAMASCUS (PIC)– Ezzat Al-Resheq the member of Hamas political bureau has revealed that the meeting between Khaled Mishaal the supreme leader of Hamas and Amre Mousa the secretary-general of the Arab league had tackled a number of issues including the deportation decision against the four Jerusalemite lawmakers.

In an interview with the Quds Press Resheq reiterated Hamas’s stand calling for an immediate end to the internal Palestinian rift pointing out that Hamas had made it clear to Mousa that it was and still is keen on restoring the Palestinian unity and ready to deal with any sincere Arab or Palestinian effort in this regard.

“We have urged Mousa to pressure the party that derails the reconciliation efforts and we still believe that the rift is a Palestinian issue and must be solved through Palestinian efforts in the first place… we should make this reconciliation by ourselves and thus we call on our brothers in Fatah faction to overcome their stands that impede reconciliation and to start direct Palestinian-Palestinian discussions to end the crisis” Resheq asserted.

He also revealed that Hamas told Mousa not to give an Arab cover for Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas to go to direct negotiations with the Israeli occupation government as the USA and Israel want because the indirect negotiations proved to be futile and achieved nothing to the Palestinian people adding that Mousa agreed with Hamas’s point of view that the indirect negotiations produced no good to the Palestinians so far.

He added “Mousa told us that all reports at hand indicates no progress in the indirect negotiations and that the Arab League won’t give the cover for direct negotiations and that the Arab League would go to the UNSC to urge recognition of the Palestinian state”.

As far as the file of the four Jerusalem lawmakers threatened to be exiled from their city Resheq said that Hamas called for a firm Arab stand against the Israeli measure to foil the Israeli plan of emptying Jerusalem of its inhabitants.

“We have explained to Mousa that by seriously supporting the four Jerusalem officials and by backing their stand in rejecting the Israeli decision to kick them out of the city the Israeli goal behind their deportation will fail” Resheq underlined.
