The Israeli prison service (IPS) embarked Thursday on a campaign to crack down on Palestinian prisoners affiliated with Hamas in the Nafha and Negev jails.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said in a statement that the IPS notified the detainees of a mass break-in by the Israeli special units into sections 2 and 3 in the Negev lock-up threatening to violently quell any projected protests.
PPS warned of an imminent explosion to flare up across Israeli jails due to the unabated aggressions launched by the IPS and Israeli special forces against the Palestinian detainees.
The prisoners information office also said the IPS closed Hamas prison sections in all Israeli jails and transferred 30 detainees affiliated with the group in the Nafha prison to a yet unknown destination.
IPS further cut off power in Negev jail as part of its mounting crackdowns against the detainees.
On Wednesday two Palestinian detainees stabbed two Israeli prison officers in Nafha and Negev jails in response to the crimes and malpractices perpetrated by the IPS against the Palestinian detainees.
The crackdowns also make part of Israeli attempts to strike a prisoner swap deal with Hamas in order to push for the release of the Israeli soldiers held captive in the Gaza Strip.
