The rulers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued Saturday a decree formally revoking a long-standing anti-normalization law prohibiting citizens and institutions from having ties with the Israeli occupation state.
The decree which ended the country’s boycott of Israel came after UAE and Israel recently signed a US-brokered deal to normalize their relations immediately.
The state-run WAM news agency claimed the move was made on the orders of Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan who is considered the nominal ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE after his brother Mohamed has imposed a tight control over the country’s affairs.
WAM said the new diktat allows UAE firms to do business with their Israeli counterparts in all fields including technology and education.
