Two Palestinian women, including a nurse working in Kamal Adwan Hospital, recounted horrifying details of the Israeli violent attack against the hospital. The Israeli soldiers surrounded the medical facility, forcing everyone out and setting it ablaze.
The women suffered hard conditions as they were beaten, stripped of their clothes, and ultimately forced to leave the hospital and walk 8 kilometers under harsh circumstances.
The Palestinian nurse, Shuruq Al Rantisi, who was forced to leave the hospital following the Israeli violent raid, said that the hospital had been under siege, adding that the soldiers broke into the hospital and proceeded to burn all its sections.
“The Israeli army demanded the evacuation of the hospital from the medical staff and the patients,” Al Rantisi underlined, affirming that everyone in the hospital was forced to leave and travel long distances on foot.
The army conducted thorough inspection before they allowed us to walk long distances, according to Al Rantisi. She added that military jeeps observed them while they walked.
Al Rantisi underlined that the occupation forces confiscated their mobile phones, grouped them into men and women, and forced them to take off their clothes, stressing that those who refused to remove their clothing were beaten.
She underlined that the number of the people who were in the hospital was 25-30, whose destiny is still unknown.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian citizen Maha Masoud who had been sheltering in the hospital recounted that the Israeli army launched a military operation in the vicinity of the hospital, adding that the raid started at dawn and everyone was forced to leave at gunpoint.
“Stationed in their tanks, the soldiers called the name of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyyah, the director of the hospital, ordering him to evacuate the hospital from patients, medical staff, and people sheltering in the hospital,” Masoud recalled.
She affirmed that women were forced to take off their hijab while men were stripped off their clothes, adding that the hospital was completely evacuated with no consideration to the cold weather outside.
“The Israeli tanks accompanied us throughout the way from the hospital to the nearest point to the outskirts of Gaza City,” Masoud said, highlighting that the soldiers had warned them not to look behind while walking.
Masoud also pointed out that children, disabled, and injured suffered pain, hunger, and thirst during the siege of the hospital, affirming that they all refused to leave the place despite the hard conditions.
Last Friday, the Israeli army announced the launch of a military operation against Kamal Adwan hospital area in Beit Lahya, in the North Gaza Governorate.
The forces of the 401st Brigade Combat Team, under the command of the 162nd Division and under the intelligence guidance of the Military Intelligence and Shin Bet, began operating in the area of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya, according to the Israeli army.
Since the ongoing Israeli blockade against the North Gaza Governorate on the 5th of October 2024, the hospital has been hit with missiles dozens of times, health officials said, adding that the occupation deals with the hospital as if it were a military target.
“This raid has put the hospital completely out of service,” governmental officials stated, stressing that civil defense and ambulance vehicles had ceased operations.
Backed by the US, Israel has been committing genocide against the Gaza Strip since October 2023, killing and injuring more than 153,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children. More than 11,000 Palestinians went missing, while dozens of children and elderly people died from malnutrition.
