Amid the tragic reality that Gaza is experiencing due to the Israeli war, the family of Mahmoud Ismail Abu Saud from Deir al-Balah in central Gaza Strip remains in a state of intense anticipation, waiting for a glimmer of hope regarding his fate.
The young man, Mahmoud (21 years old), who suffers from introversion and deafness, has been missing since August 2024 after he went to the Mawasi of Khan Yunis. Since that time, there has been no news about him, leaving his fate uncertain.
Details of the disappearance
According to his family, Mahmoud, who has a hearing impairment, was visiting the Mawasi of Khan Yunis last August. He asked his relatives in the area about a group of individuals who were in the Fashfash area, and after that, he completely vanished, with no further contact.
Family’s anxiety
Mahmoud’s family, living in Deir al-Balah, is still struggling to search for their missing son amidst the difficult conditions in Gaza. His parents do not stop praying and are tormented by the anxiety regarding their son’s fate. His relatives affirm that they do not know if he has been martyred or arrested by the Israeli occupation army.
A Family in constant suffering
His mother tearfully states, “We live in constant torment. Is he a martyr? Or is he alive? Is he somewhere suffering? We know nothing.” She adds, “Mahmoud was a simple young man; all he wanted was to live in peace, but he left and did not return.”
An appeal to reveal his fate
The family continues to call on the relevant authorities, whether hospitals, relief teams, or humanitarian organizations, for any information that might help uncover his fate. “We want to know the truth: is he alive or a martyr?” his mother asked.
