The media committee in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, confirmed that the ongoing aggression by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) against the city and its refugee camp for 27 days has led to a severe humanitarian crisis in housing, infrastructure, and public life.

In a statement on Sunday, the committee reported the martyrdom of 25 citizens and the displacement of more than 20,000 due to the escalating brutal aggression.

It clarified that the occupation army has so far destroyed more than 470 facilities and homes either completely or partially, in addition to severely disrupting essential services, particularly health and educational facilities, alongside a complete outage of water and electricity, and a severe shortage of food supplies in the city and its surroundings.

The committee noted that the occupation forces have sent military reinforcements deep into the Jenin camp, coinciding with intensive flights of military and drone aircraft. It added that the IOF soldiers stationed near Al-Aseer Mosque in the Jenin camp and converted citizens’ homes into military barracks, while firing live ammunition near the Al-Nimer fuel station in the city.

It said that the occupation forces are preventing water access to four main hospitals in Jenin, depriving 35% of the city’s residents of water, thus exacerbating the suffering of the people and putting them at risk of a health disaster.

The committee pointed out that the IOF aggression against Jenin and its camp included widespread arrests of citizens, explaining that more than 150 individuals were arrested so far, alongside subjecting dozens to field investigations.

It added, “The occupation forces carried out 153 raids on homes and 14 airstrikes, resulting in serious damage to infrastructure and residential neighborhoods.” It pointed to the destruction of the home of martyr Amjad Al-Fa’id, as well as the homes of his martyr uncles Amjad, Issam, and Muhammad Al-Fa’id in the Jenin camp.

The committee called on the international community and human rights organizations to urgently and immediately intervene to stop these crimes against the civilian inhabitants and to secure basic needs for the displaced and besieged residents in the camp.

It affirmed that the continuation of the aggression against Jenin “will not break the will of the people of Jenin, and Jenin and its camp will remain a symbol of resilience and defiance in the face of occupation.”

Since the onset of the genocide in the Gaza Strip, the IOF and its settlers have expanded their assaults in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 916 Palestinians, injuring around 7,000, and the arrest of 14,500 others, according to official Palestinian data.
