Hamas dismayed at Abbas’s contact with Netanyahu

Sunday 12-April-2009

GAZA (PIC)– Hamas on Sunday castigated former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas for rushing to congratulate Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu on the Jewish Passover feast.

Hamas MP Mushir Al-Masri told the PIC that the insistence of Abbas and his entourage on the illusion of the peace process rushing to satisfy Zionists and sticking to the language of begging contradicted previous statements for Abbas himself.

He explained that Abbas had repeatedly talked about suspending negotiations with the Israeli occupation authority but was always quick to backtrack on his position. “This is the problem with those who linked their destiny to their enemies” he elaborated.

Masri expressed dismay at the fact that Abbas was contacting Netanyahu at a time Israeli threats against and siege on the Gaza Strip was still in full swing in addition to daily incursions in the West Bank judaizing Jerusalem and building the separation wall.

The Hamas leader urged Abbas to return to the Palestinian people’s option (resistance) and not to continue in the attempt to “breathe life in the dead body of the peace process”.
