GAZA (PIC)– Two Fatah leaders arrived in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday through the Erez crossing in northern Gaza after prior coordination with the Hamas Movement in line with efforts to forge national conciliation.

Abdullah El-Efranji commissioner of Fatah’s foreign relations and Marwan Abdul Hamid member of the faction’s revolutionary council and advisor to Mahmoud Abbas the Fatah leader and former PA chief arrived in a bid to follow up on contacts with Hamas.

Efranji said on arrival that they came to Gaza to have talks with all factions topped by Hamas to end the state of internal Palestinian division and to restore unity and cohesion to the Palestinian people.

Hamas welcomed the delegation’s visit adding that it was meant to overcome obstacles that blocked progress of national unity talks in Cairo and to facilitate the new round slated to open in the Egyptian capital on 26th April.

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said that the meeting between Hamas and Fatah delegations fell in line with efforts to break the ice between the two movements.

Fatah and Hamas are scheduled to meet first in Cairo before inviting other factions to the talks if both sides reached positive results.
