RAMALLAH (PIC)– The lawyer of the Palestinian prisoner club said that the Israeli Nafha prison administration started recently to isolate the prisoners of Hamas and Islamic Jihad from other prisoners as a prelude to taking punitive measures against them including depriving them of their financial allocations.
The lawyer quoted prisoner Haitham Hamdan serving four life sentences as saying that the Israeli administration in Nafha after the failure of the swap deal talks escalated its measures against the prisoners especially those affiliated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad and decided to isolate them from other prisoners.
The lawyer also met with a number of prisoners including Amjad Abu Latifa who called for pressuring the Israeli prisons authority to provide specialized doctors and committees to follow up the medical conditions of prisoners especially patients.
Abu Latifa told the lawyer that one of the patients in the Nafha prison called Bashar Al-Khatib suffers from heart attacks and his body constantly sweats adding that his only medication is painkilling pills.
The lawyer pointed that there is a large number of Palestinian prisoners who suffer from serious dental infections and the administration refuses to provide them with medical care.
During his visit to the Israeli Ramla prison hospital the lawyer was told that prisoner Khaled Al-Shawish suffer from a serious medical condition after he underwent a surgery to remove an Israeli bullet from his body where doctors excised part of his intestines and replaced it with a fecal bag and intend to perform another surgery after his bowels slipped from its place.
In a related context the prisoners’ center for studies reported that the Israeli military court postponed the trial of prisoners’ rights activist Siham Al-Hih until next Tuesday adding that she was arrested on the charge of engaging in activities related to the issue of prisoners which contradicts Israeli law.
According to the center Siham Al-Hih and her colleague Raja’a Al-Ghoul who both work for the center are imprisoned in the Telmond prison.
Ra’fat Hamduna the center’s director held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible for the life of prisoner Ghoul who suffers from a heart disease.
Hamduna appealed to the international organizations concerned with human rights to intervene to stop the Israeli violations against prisoners noting that the arrest of jurists and human rights figures is a dangerous precedent and a flagrant violation of human rights and international law.
