Thursday 12-August-2010

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The youth commission of the Old City in Jerusalem refused an Israeli offer to assume all expenses of adorning the city on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The youths insisted that they would decorate it and its major market through their own efforts and the generous contributions collected from the Jerusalemite people.

As a result of its refusal the Israeli occupation authority and its policemen tried to prevent the commission from decorating the Old City through pressuring the electricity company in Jerusalem and some storekeepers and citizens inside the city.

In another incident related to occupied Jerusalem the Islamic-Christian authority for the support of Jerusalem and holy sites issued its semi-annual report on all its activities and events that took place in the first half of this year.

The report started with a statement written by the secretary-general of the authority Hasan Khater in which he highlighted that the tireless efforts that were made in order to establish the Islamic-Christian authority.

Khater stressed in his statement that despite the efforts made by the authority and national institutions to support and defend Jerusalem there is still need to involve all Muslims and Christians in these efforts.
