GAZA (PIC)– Gaza’s only power plant shut down at 5:00 am (local time) Saturday after sharp cuts in imported industrial fuels caused fuel necessary for operation to run out.
The Palestinian energy authority said in a report that the Ministry of Finance in Ramallah was responsible for the power failure.
“(The) Ramallah (government) has not complied with the initiative by independent personalities to provide industrial fuel while the electricity distribution company never stopped sending all the company’s revenues to Ramallah” the report said.
The Gaza power authority called for pressure on Ramallah’s treasury under the “illegal government” of Fayyad emphasizing that the people of Gaza should not be held responsible for the electricity crisis in Gaza.
