GAZA (PIC)– A delegation of high-profile figures from England arrived in the Gaza Strip Friday evening shortly after the arrival of another delegation from the international committee for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Sources from the crossings authority told PIC that a member of the British House of Lords a member from the British House of Commons and chairman of the Interpal charity in London arrived this evening in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing as part of the Miles for Smiles 2 convoy which includes 60 leading figures from Europe. The convoy is expected to enter the Gaza Strip Saturday to deliver the aid relief on board.
The delegation is scheduled to meet Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya and members of the Legislative Council in the Strip and to assay the effects of the war in the region.
Another delegation from the international committee for the reconstruction of Gaza arrived before the British delegation through the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza Strip.
The committee’s chairman Kanaan Obeid said the delegation includes Chairman Ismail Othman and other members of the committee’s governing council. He noted that the delegation will tour projects undertaken by the committee in Gaza and to lay down the foundation stone for the children’s hospital in Deir al-Balah funded by the federation of Jordanian engineers.
Obeid said the delegation will also tour projects undertaken by the ministry of public works and visit the faculty of engineering in the Islamic University in Gaza.
