AMMAN (PIC)– The trade unions council in Jordan is arranging to send an airborne aid convoy dubbed “Ansar 1” to the Gaza Strip by way of the El-Arish airport in Egypt by mid-August.
Egyptian authorities were contacted by the trade unions council through Jordan’s foreign ministry to provide a list of names and materials to be sent “by air” to the Gaza Strip the trade union council’s chairman Ahmed al-Armouti told media.
Cairo previously disapproved clearance for the naval version of Ansar 1 which was scheduled to set sail to Gaza through the Nuweiba seaport.
The Egyptian foreign ministry approved two weeks ago the Ansar 1 voyage to Gaza through the harbor in El-Arish this month provided the council complies with its directives but the trade union postponed arrangements “due to lack of suitable conditions for dispatching a voyage by sea.”
